Videoblogging is one passion that is not going to fade into oblivion anytime soon. It is inexpensive, fun and if done right your visiting card to newer opportunities. How do you create something that everybody likes and hopefully subscribes to? Your guess is as goods as mine. But there are a few factors that tick everytime. A quick list of them!
Decide on a topic that can be developed into a series
Like podcasts deciding on a topic that can be created into a series of related vlogs can help in recall. Choose a topic that is hot, share worthy and doesn’t sound jaded after a week’s time. Vlogging constantly on a given topic can make people look forward to the next edition and make you a known name in one field or domain.
What goes in is going to reflect
No matter what the friendly salesperson says. Low end equipment is not going to help! If content is important, presenting it in a way that is professional and classy is even more so. Use a video camera that is semi-professional or camcorders that are high definition. A microphone that can pick up sound clearly should also top your must-buy list if you don’t want people cupping their ears to hear you.
Still finding your video noisy and difficult to hear? Add a video transcript of it or subtitle it. Being understood is what is going to make your video blogs subscription worthy.
Speak with the camera
There is a lot of difference between speaking to a camera and with a camera. Don’t glance nervously at the camera but communicate with it. Most acting schools teach talent to treat the camera as a person in a room, and not as an inanimate object. One easy tip is to imagine it as your favorite relative or friend.
Dead stares are another major put off. Look warm and approachable and smile like you can already see the number of likes your video blog is gonna get!
Be regular
None of us trust a friend who stands in the doorway put of the blue one afternoon and disappears for ages. Upload your blogs at regular intervals so people don’t lose interest or worse still forget about you altogether.
